Aug. 27 - 9:30 - Chang Mai
The alarm rings ... And I can not put my hands on him for the fart g ... We get up and go hard at home to take a breakfast ': juice fruit, toast, jam, croissants and pain au chocolate. A little French t'cho all that! Despite this, the setting is idyllic: patio, pool, fish, waterfall, beautiful exotic plants, and lots of mini frogs!
Then the boss arrives: it is Ludo. It is on familiar terms directly, it's relaxing. He is French, and installed 10 years in Thailand. We are the topo of his hotel, guesthouse or rather, then we ask questions about the trek (because I sure like a beast in the national park of Sukhothai, I touch the ground a bit ...). It does not reassure me! He then takes advantage of the arrival of French youth to show us the city of Chang Mai. For him, everything is 10 minutes walk. Ok, we will not take tuk-tuks here! We spend all morning talking to him.

12:00 - We take our direction the tong Warorot MARKET. ... It's incredibly far. It goes back to our morflé Ludo! We arrive at the market and discover a giant human anthill. There are several blocks from the market, including a three-story! We buy spices, souvenirs and a big surprise for the Thai meal we planned to organize on our return with smala: ROASTED of TRACK! We dare not eat it right away ... We are waiting for the right time.
Then we head towards the old town which is not very old, too, for rebuilt in the early twentieth century.

Course of History: The King Mengrai founded Chiang Mai (meaning "new city") in 1296, and it succeeded Chiang Rai as Lannathai capital of the kingdom. Mengrai constructed a moat and a wall around the city to protect against incursions from Burma. With the decline of the kingdom of Lannathai, the city lost its importance and was often occupied by the Burmese or Thais from Ayutthaya. During the wars waged by the Burmese and culminating with the fall of Ayutthaya in April 1767, Chiang Mai was emptied of its inhabitants and it remained abandoned for fifteen years (1776-1791). Chiang Mai formally became a part of Siam in 1774, when King Taksin was taken to the Burmese. Chiang Mai has found both culturally and economically, to gradually become the official capital northern Thailand, the second largest city after Bangkok.
We visit the three main temples that Ludo has advised us (There are, roughly, twenty throughout the city). Wonderful! Sculptures and gold galore. There is even a temple made of teak!
18:30 - We take the way back. We take this opportunity to shop in a sort of Monoprix for my breakfast from the hotel (not included) is a bit pricey for our liking. We walk back to 1:30. Ludo bastard! It is 8:00 p.m., no one in the guesthouse. We take our shower and go out. We are not going too far because we're sick. We find a small greasy spoon us serves delicious fried noodles! We take a coke as an appetizer and devour our meal while watching the television that evening would certainly nothing in the world with a Thai. We make our walk with the digestive way back. Once arrived at the bungalow, we prepare our bags for the trek ... (two days in the jungle!).
