How Do You Turn On The Big Boom Box On Lpso

Traffic MALI - Day 4

28/09/2007 - 8:00

This morning we leave Bamako and warmly thank the hotel staff.

's go for 330 miles and 3:30 from road to Segou ...

On the Road we passed many small villages with scenes of life just as surprising as each other: much rest, others sell in a hurry, and others discuss in groups (but what).

Throughout the road we also see a lot of people on foot or on makeshift trolleys that are several tens of kilometers from any village. We see also people away from the sun, in huts with raised floors, in the sticks ... but what are they doing here? " There is nothing around!

The Malian customs are decidedly different from ours!

Apparently, they can spend hours, even days, in such places, without any activity. Finally, they are "Brain" of these guys!

We finally arrive at the village of Ségoukoro for a visit. This is our first experience human-African-Traditional.

Children flock to us and the camera once the decision made. During the visit the children squabble we hold hands.

The local guide, a young resident, shows us the various important places in their village, their mosque, the tomb of the founder of animist, their school, their "old" factory millet beer (Islam obliges!) and their new mosque.

12:30 We arrive at the hotel INDEPENDENT Ségou. The decor is the rendezvous and the pool! But the comfort of the room and the home owner does not apply to those BAMAKO (the boss is European ... maybe this explains it!)

After a hearty meal: the Captain ségouvien (tomatoes, onions), we pride ourselves a small dip in the pool and we prélassons the sun ... Finally ... Pupuce!

Me, I scan the lizards that strongly resemble small lizards.

3:00 p.m. We will SEGOU to meet with Mohamed Ibrahim, our young local guide. He reveals his city on foot. A ballad about three hours ...

This city is a perfect reflection of the kindness of Mali. We meet every moment of smiling people. Just a gesture with a smile, for once they accept us and asking us: "It's going well? Where are you from? Where are you going? "And we wish a safe arrival in Mali! .

Children flock to us and ask us to clap their hands. The elders are even more demonstrative. It certainly had to respect their traditions and their reputation for friendly people.

Ibrahim is a very pleasant and friendly guide. We feel that we walk with a friend and do not hesitate to ask lots of questions. He reveals the French colonial quarter (1890), the market SEGOU, mosques, the shipyard (a small slope towards NIGER, with canoes being built).

We also crossed the potters market whose products are recognized throughout the country. Can we finish this walk along the NIGER fun to watch the children jump into the water, and finally watch the sunset. What a pleasant and relaxing! ...

We return then to the hotel for a dip in the pool and a good meal Mali: spring rolls as an appetizer, steaks and fries for Pupuce, and captain / sweet for me!

Ségou is a city that we appreciate very much. First of all for the warm welcome of Ibrahim and to the natural kindness of its inhabitants.

This city is a reflection of the reputation of Mali, is a city where we enjoy chatting with locals and a walk without being too bothered.
